I started A+ Events in 1994 and have been enjoying every minute of the company’s progress since. I love the “magic” of mixing a variety of ideas to create unique experiences for our clients. I get excited about organizational growth and helping groups shape their messages. And, I’m especially pleased that we get to do this every day for organizations that are making a positive difference in the world. Our staff are absolutely the best people to work with and I’m continually astonished by their creativity and enthusiasm. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, photography, reading and cooking.
In June of 2013, I completed 40 years in public education—all in Washington State. A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, I was first a math and art teacher, then a high school principal and central office administrator in Forks, Washington in the Olympic Peninsula. I worked there for 26 years, spending the bulk of my time in federal programs, most notably, Title I. In 1999, I was hired to be the State Title I Director and soon was added to the State Superintendent’s Cabinet as an Assistant Superintendent for Special Programs and Federal Accountability. I am privileged and delighted to now be a part of the great team at A+ Events and still involved with Title I. I don’t think it gets any better!
I watched Lisa create A+ Events many years ago, and I am delighted to now be part of this growing company. I started my career in the U.S. Coast Guard, where I served on ships on both coasts and worked closely with the maritime industry. My second career was in the petroleum industry were I managed facilities, and later, an environmental program. I enjoy working in small business, and it is a pleasure meeting and assisting people in the education industry. I enjoy sailing, participating in Rotary and travel.
As Event Director, I oversee all of the important details to ensure each event is a success. I’ve been a member of the A+ Events team since 2009, and I have a BA in Environmental Studies. My professional background includes experience in both the environmental and hospitality industries. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, traveling, and exploring the beautiful coast I call home.
I am privileged to be a part of this team of outstanding individuals here at A+ Events. As Office Manager, I take pride in providing excellent support to our clients and team members. I have a degree in Business Management and a background in travel management. I also spent many years employed in various administrative
positions at a K-12 school and thoroughly enjoyed working in education. I enjoy riding my bike along our beautiful Mendocino Coastline and hiking in the Redwoods.
It’s great to be working here at A+ Events as the Director of Audience Engagement. I come to this position with a background in arts, media, and social practice. I received my undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2007, and my masters degree in visual studies in 2012. I bring to this position my own history of collaboration, research, digital and traditional media design, event organization, and a grab-bag of other interests and skills. It has been a real privilege to work alongside such amazing people here at A+ Events, and to be doing this work in such a beautiful area.
I am excited to join the A+ Events team as Director of Media Services. I have 20+ years of experience in the education field developing, producing, and distributing multimedia curriculum content for brick and mortar, virtual, and blended learning environments. I also spent 15 years in broadcasting as a videotape supervisor and library manager for major television networks. I hold a BA in Comparative Literature from San Diego State University and have a passionate interest in preserving the natural environment of the Mendocino Coast and the marine mammals that live here. I am very pleased to be working with the A+ team to produce web and video content.
It is an honor to be a member of a team with such talent, dedication, and a willingness to share their knowledge. I have spent the last 20 years working in the not-for-profit sector focusing on Community Outreach and Healthcare Philanthropy. As Client Services Director, I am responsible for developing and maintaining exceptional business relationships with clients, customers, and sponsors. I approach life with an attitude of gratitude and thus happily enjoy many activities. Be it hiking, drawing, volunteering, spending time with family, or waking up to the sound of the ocean, I am simply happy to be alive.
As Creative Director, I produce the branding for each event we serve, which translates into web-layout, print-work, logos, graphics and signs. I also provide information design: structuring the visual aspects of our content so that it is easily understood and efficiently organized. I collaborate with other staff members developing concepts and design for any project that calls for it. I hold a BA in Design/Media Arts from UCLA and have over five years of experience as a freelance designer. I am fascinated with almost everything and when I am not reading design and typography books, I’m cooking, digging in the dirt and enjoying the company of my friends.
I am the former Executive Director of Federal Programs for the State of Mississippi where I served fourteen years as a state level administrator. Before joining the Mississippi Department of Education, I served as the Assistant Director for the Tougaloo College Upward Bound Math & Science Center as a Teacher/Counselor for eight years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tougaloo College, a Master of Science Degree from Jackson State University, and I am currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Mississippi. I served as an Officer in the Mississippi Army National Guard for eleven years. I am an ordained minister, serving the past ten years as the Pastor of True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. During my fourteen-year tenure with the State of Mississippi, I worked with the National Association of State Title I Directors (NASTID) as a member, vice-president, president, and past president. One of the highlights of my career was representing NASTID as a member of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Negotiated Rule-making Committee in April 2016. What an exciting time to join A+ Events and apply my twenty-two years of experience as an educator/leader to continue supporting the work of NASTID and underrepresented children.
